Final Report on PLN
My PLN has come a long way since the beginning of the semester. I have found numerous excellent teaching resources. I have found websites and insightful people to look to for ideas, encouragement, and their opinions. I am following people such as Paige Baggett, Larry Ferlazzo, Aaron Eyler, Joe Bower, John Spencer, etc. I use Twitter, Blogger, Facebook, Google, YouTube, etc. I also love the ALEX website and the SMART Exchange website. They are both wonderful teaching resources. I believe I can now say I am "technologically literate." There is so much more to learn, but I am well on my way.

2KM @ Leopold Primary School!
This week we started our “Sea” topic. We are looking forward to learning lots of interesting information about the oceans, sea creatures, water safety and how pollution affects the sea.
Yesterday we showed off our creativity by making some paper plate fish. Everyone had a great time creating their colourful fish and we think they look fantastic! What do you think?

Do you know any facts about the sea?

Hi!
My name is Teri Hampton. I am from the United States. I live in Alabama.
I loved everyone’s paper plate fish! They all looked great! They were very creative!
I love doing art projects like these. I recently had the pleasure of painting with a blind man. It was really fun.
I know that there are many different animals that live in the sea. There are fish, octopus, eels, sea horses, and many others!
Keep up the good work!

Part 1 – Knowing that all concepts that we learn from here on out are NEW concepts to you. What did you do to prepare for the test on chapter 8 (our exponent test)? Did you like your original grade? What will you do to better prepare yourself for future tests? Explain in 3-5 sentences.
For the chapter 8 test, I prepared by studying the study guide that Mrs. Melito gave to us in class. I tried a lot of the problems more than once which helped me to know what kind of problems would be on the test. My original grade I did not like at all. I knew that I could do so much better than how I did. Before we got to retake the chapter 8 test and for future tests also, I studied and will study even harder. I wrote the problems over and over and I made sure I knew each answer. Even though I did not get a perfect grade on the test that we got to retake (thanks Mrs. Melito!:] ) I did a lot better because I worked and studied a lot harder!
Part 2 – When a number is written in scientific notation, what does the sign of the exponent in the power of 10 tell you about the size of the number? Explain in 3-5 sentences.
When a number is written in scientific notation the sign of the exponent is either negative or positive. If the exponent is positive you move the decimal to the right. If the exponent is negative you move the decimal to the left. :)

Hi Melanie,
My name is Teri Hampton. I am from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL. This week, I was assigned to comment on your blog. Studying is the best way to make sure you do well on tests. You might not always get the best grade, but as long as you study and do your best that is what really matters. If you form good study habits now, it will help you to be successful later on in life. Keep up the good work!

The Little Girl That Was a Lion
Rocio Flores
In the zoo there was a girl that was a lion. Her name was Rose. Rose was 10-years-old. Rose became a lion because a witch cast a spell on her. The witch’s name was Corn. Corn was known for making little girls into lions. Corn lived in a plant. Corn’s plant’s name was Ana. Ana was at the top of a hill. The hill was 10 feet tall.
She lived in the town of Cheeseburger. The town had a bad zoo. The zoo was bad because they never gave the animals food. Rose did not want to be there for a year. One day she saw a new lion coming. Rose was thinking of a plan. Rose said to the other lion that she could go home now. “Will one of you go with me?”
“No,” one answered Rose.
“Look,” Rose said to a lion named Matt, “I am not going to talk to you.” Rose would not talk to him because he does tricks on her all the time.
“I am not trying to trick you,” said Matt.
“Matt stop it now,” said Rose.
“Stop fighting,” said Matt’s mom.
“Look it is Corn,” said Matt.
“Corn what are you doing here,” said Rose?
“I am here to take the spell off,” said Corn.
So, that is what Corn did. Rose went home after Corn took the spell off. Corn went to the Cornfield and lived there. Two months later, Rose got addicted to eating cheese. One Month after that Rose turned into cheese.
THE END
