Blog Assignment 11

I really enjoyed watching Ms. Cassidy’s first graders in action. As with most of the others things I have seen this semester, I am amazed at how different things are now and how much more advance these children are than I was at that age. I love the fact that there are so many more resources teachers can use in their classrooms to enhance learning for children.

I believe Ms. Cassidy has a great view on technology in the classroom. She has her first graders doing videos, blog posts, and Skype among other things. It is terrific. These children have learned so much from Ms. Cassidy! I would love to use a lot of Ms. Cassidy’s techniques in my classroom. I think blogging is great for children who are learning to write. I also think videos make learning fun, and make children want to participate and be active in projects. I also think using Skype is a great way to have students learn how to communicate and collaborate with others.

Of course as with everything by using technology in the classroom you will most likely have problems whether it is with the students or with the technology itself. You have to have back up plans and be prepared for problems you might encounter. Also, as a teacher, I may not have access to these things in my classroom. If this is the case, I would do my best to change that. If I could not figure out a way to get the things I need in my classroom, I would at least take my students to a computer lab or something of that nature so they can be exposed to technology.

I believe, if I am able to use technology in my classroom, that the benefits my children receive from having access to these tools will be profound. Having experience with technology will help them throughout their lives.

  1. Hi Teri!
I agree with you completely on this blog post. I didn't have nearly the amount of education on technology as children today have. This class alone has taught me more about technology than I've learned my entire life. I think it's great children are learning so much about it because they can go on to do bigger and better things than we are able to do if they use what they are taught in school. Great post Teri!
